A Sunday Day on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park

Well, it was a wonderful Sunday in Virginia! After kind of a crazy sleep schedule, I woke up about noon, and then left for Skyline Drive, a 105 mile scenic roadway in Shenandoah National Park.
I left my apartment around 1:30pm, and arrived to the park entrance around 2pm. I reached the end of the 105 miles around 7pm, and then drove back, finishing around 9:45pm, and then back at my apartment around 10:15pm. So, I had a nice time in my car today exploring and making stops, and, of course, taking a LOT of pictures!

On Friday and Saturday, in between sleeping, I made a couple of mixed CDs to listen to for the big drive back to Mississippi, so I brought them along. The first and last portions of my trip were spent listening to a Christian mix, mostly old hymns, which are my favorite! It was so amazing to see the splendor of God's creation while listening to songs such as "How Great Thou Art."
"Some of my Favorite Christian Songs CD"1. "Power in the Blood" -- Shane and Shane
2. "Blessed Assurance" -- Alan Jackson
3. "Softly and Tenderly" -- Alan Jackson

Unusual Situations
It seems like I find myself right in the middle of messes a lot. I don't know if I am creating them, if I am adding to them, or they just find me. I was in quite the unusual situation around 11pm (I'm at work), and because I was in a shared room (there were two patients in one room), and because everyone was rightfully sleeping (except me), I couldn't laugh out loud. But, even now, I am having to suppress my laughter. It's definately not a story I would be allowed to tell at the supper table, but it's one I will not soon forget. If you are really wanting to know what happened, you will just have to ask. It's probably not something I will write down, because if I do I can't later deny it if it's writing, and I am sure I will one day want to deny this.

Monticello

Well, today was an absolutely beautiful day, so I decided to take an excursion and visit Thomas Jefferson's house at Monticello. When I got there and purchased my ticket, I had the option of taking the shuttle bus to the house/grounds, or I could take the 0.6 mile hike up the mountain. I decided that was not a long walk, and I would love the fresh air. That was one of the reasons I decided to go today! Maybe I need to reiterate the up the mountain. Yes, 6/10 of a mile is nothing, but wow, I must be really out of shape! I must admit I felt wonderful after that little hike! Well, anyway, I have purchased my ticket around 2:15, and my tour of the house started at 3:00. I got to the grounds in maybe 15 minutes, so I have plenty of time to wander and take pictures. Then, I realized I had no idea where I was supposed to be for this tour....the back of the house or the front...and it didn't help that I thought the front was the back and the back the front, and there were so many people there. Hmm...I even asked some older people, but I don't think they knew either, so I did find out where eventually, but I was too late, so I didn't see the inside. Below is my tour group I missed...

I wasn't bummed about missing my group; instead, I decided to just roam the grounds. I got a little caught up in the scenery, that I found myself walking down a road to I didn't know where, then ended up in a parking lot. So, I continued through, enjoying the beautiful day, a

I'm Moving to Dallas!!!
Wow!! So, I am accepting a position at Dallas Children's Hospital from June 23-December 27! I couldn't be more excited about this position! The interview that I had yesterday went great, and the hospital sounds like a great fit. Not to mention, I will be in Dallas, TX, which will be really fun, and I will be closer to home! It's amazing how God provides when you just sit back and trust in Him. I had been a little nervous about finding an assignment because it just wasn't working out. When I finally just relaxed after praying about it, I was at peace with wherever God would send me next. I was excited about being surprised with what would happen next, and now I am really excited knowing where I will be, but also that there is still some uncertainty until I make the move. There is a lot to be done in the meantime (moving back to Mississippi, then to Texas), but I am learning to enjoy the ride and rely on the Lord to see me through the bumps, excitments, and everything in between!
"Before the throne of God above,
I have a strong and perfect plea; a great High Priest whose name is love, who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in heav'n He stands, no tongue can bid me thence depart.
"When Satan tempts me to despair, and tells me of the guilt within, upward I look and see Him there, who made an end to all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died, my sinful soul is counted free.
For God, the Just, is satisfied to look on Him and pardon me.
"Behold Him there, the risen Lamb!
My perfect spotless righteousness.
The great unchangeable I Am, the King of Glory and of Grace.
One with Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood.
My life is hid with Christ on high, with Christ, my Savior and my God."

First Post
I'm just going to do it...first post. There's something intimidating to me about writing a first post. I feel like there are expectations about a first post, so, for the last 3 months, since I opened this blog, I will occasionally sign on, stare at it for a minute, then log out. So, here I sit at work, and there isn't much else to do at 0100, so I'm just going to write.
This blog was created so I could write about my travel experiences as a Travel RN. However, most of my grand adventures have been at work, and therefore, due to privacy acts, I can't takj about those. I have had some interesting things happen (I have a really obnoxious downstairs neighbor), but I hardly believe you want to hear about him anymore than I want to think about it. then there is the whole, "Do you start your first blog post with a story of a day in DC, or about your neighbor, or your chronic lostness (is that even a word) in a different city?" issue. Does any of this make any sense? Or, are you (for those of you who even care to spend your valuable time reading this) wondering what I am talking about, and then chiding yourself on the time wasted reading? Well, I didn't make you read it, but I apologize if my writing is pooh. It's all much more clear now why I ditched the BA in English and went to nursing school, now isn't it?
Since I have gotten this out of the way, I will end, not because I am done rambling, but because I do have 3 babies who need tending to at the moment. For those of you who made it to the end without roling your eyes, yawning, or thinking ill of me and my writing, thanks. For the rest of you, well, never mind (just kidding). May God bless each and every one of you!
